I’m sorry to do that to you but I just couldn’t get into the whole email ordeal while you were still processing that whole I-171H fiasco. A fiasco it definitely was. Like I said so much of what happened on this December day will receive new light as the adoption comes to a close.
So I’m on the phone with Kristina and I start reading the email that just came hours ago from the US Embassy.
Mr. Mummau
I am truly sorry to say that there is no record of your file here with us. We have checked by father’s, mother’s, and even infant’s name and nothing has been submitted to us to date. Ask your attorney for a case number which will greatly enable us to locate your file if in fact it has been submitted.
Sincerely,
….
As I read the words to Kristina, the heaviness in her breathing conveyed either rage or tears both of which I couldn’t bear to stand. However, just I had asked her to, she waited until I read the second email. This email came just hours after the first one and definitely changed the tome of Kristina’s mood.
Mr. Mummau
This email is to inform you that your case (#*****) has been pre-approved…
It almost seemed unreal that the very same day which began with the frustration of knowing that the embassy didn’t even have our file because of an error that should have never occured on the part of our lawyer. The urgency of rushing to the storage building and finding the paper within minutes was another amazing turn in the day. Then to sit back feeling the day had ended well and find these emails in the bin almost took us over the edge. It definitely was a tiny glimpse at the ups and down of every adoption…but in one day!
So now, family court, PGN, Embassy, Home!!!
