The Gift of Adoption fund was founded in 1996 by Gene and Lucy Wyka. Though the organization is located in Wisconsin, there are chapters in Washington, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota, and two in Florida. The Fund looks to help those who are doing all they can to pay for their adoption and need extra assistance.

The Gift of Adoption has an online registration with with a one time fee of $20.00. They take into account many factors when reviewing applications. They look at the homestudy and financial situation of the applicant(s). Marital status of the applicant is not taken into consideration as it is open to single and married applicants. Awards that are granted average about $3,300 but range from $2,000 to $5,000.

One thing to be taken into account before applying with the Gift of Adoption is that this is a grant for those already in the process and find themselves with extra need. As they say on their site "We are not where you start, we are where you end."
