Mia and the Three MooseDuring our adoption, we tried to find any and everything that would take our mind off of the wait. Every little diversion was welcome. Here is a fun little exercise that takes no effort but the outcome usually brings a chuckle. Visit the Adoption Fun section for all sorts of little creative outlets.

I found the Interactive Stories to be pretty funny. It is amazing how you pay more attention to the details of the story when it is your child's name in there. For example, I wasn't a big fan of Jack and the Beanstalk when it was Mia being the lazy and "stupid" one but I never really paid attention when it was Jack!

Mia and the Three Mooses

Once upon a time there were three mooses, the mother moose, the father moose and the baby moose who lived in a house in Family Court. One morning the mother moose made chocolate mousse for breakfast. When the three mooses sat at the table to eat, they found that the chocolate mousse was too hot. "Let's go for a walk to the PGN", the mother moose said. "The chocolate mousse will be cool enough to eat when we return." So off they went.

Nearby, Mia was walking in Family Court. "I've been walking such a long time, and I'm tired", Mia said. Just then Mia saw the three moose's house. "Maybe they have a place that I can rest", Mia said, walking up to the house.

Mia knocked on the door, but noboby answered. "Maybe they can't hear me," said Mia. "Hello?" Mia exclaimed, pushing open the door to the house. There must not be anyone home, Mia thought. I'm sure they won't mind if I just rest for a few minutes in one of their chairs.

There were three chairs lined up along the wall. Mia sat in father moose's chair, but it was too big. Mia sat in mother moose's chair, but it was too small. Then Mia sat in baby moose's chair and it was just right! Mia sat back and began to relax when there was a sharp "CRACK". "What was that?" Mia thought. All of the sudden there was another "CRACK" and the chair broke into several pieces, throwing Mia to the ground. "Ouch!" Mia cried, climbing up from the floor, "That hurt!"

As Mia brushed the dust off, a fragrant smell caught Mia's attention. It led Mia to the kitchen where the bowls of chocolate mousse had been left. First Mia tried the father moose's chocolate mousse but it was too hot. Then Mia tried the mother moose's chocolate mousse but it was too cold. But the baby moose's chocolate mousse was just right, and Mia ate more and more until there was none left.

"My goodness that was good chocolate mousse," said Mia who was beginning to yawn. "I could use a good nap", Mia said entering the bedroom. Mia sat on the father moose's bed. "This bed is too hard!" exclaimed Mia. Mia then sat on the mother moose's bed. "This bed is too soft!" Mia exclaimed, "I just hope this last bed is more comfortable." The baby moose's bed was just right, and Mia quickly fell fast asleep there.

In a short while the three mooses returned from their walk to the PGN. When they came into the kitchen, they noticed that something was different. "Someone's been eating my chocolate mousse!", said the father moose. "Someone's been eating my chocolate mousse too!", said the mother moose. "Someone's been eating my chocolate mousse, and they at it all up!", cried the baby moose. They looked around the house to try and find who had done this. When they looked in the bedroom they saw Mia asleep on baby moose's bed. Just then Mia woke up, saw the three mooses and screamed. The three mooses tried to catch Mia, but Mia ran out of Family Court and all the way home.
