The love pours out of your heart as you begin to dream of the child you are planning to adopt. You know there is paperwork, your know there will be wait times and frustrations, you even know it is going to cost but that is nothing compared to the love in your heart.
Then reality begins to set in. $25,000 might as well be $25,000,000. Where is it going to come from. This process will most likely take your savings and some assets and you may still come up shy. This is the situation that many face when committing to adopting a child. However, the love for children will push parents... more

In searching the web for unique fundraisers, I found Anna Bear. This looks like it would be a great way not only to raise money for your adoption but to also get the word out about adoption. These bears wear shirts that can be customized with the flag of your choice. From what I read it can also bear the image of your baby too! They read "I support adoption."

Website: http://www.adoptionloans.com
This site is offered through adoption.com and gives to the option to finance your adoption through a Home Equity Loan, a line of Credit, a personal or signature loan, and an adoption credit card. While loans may not seem to be the method of choice to fund an adoption, it may very well be a necessity. I have often heard it said "I am real leery of taking out a loan for this." Yet many or I'd venture to say most of us took out a loan for a car, maybe a house, or maybe even a luxury item. To me,... more
Most couples know coming into an adoption what types of costs they will face during the process. Yet somehow many find themselves half way through the journey wondering where the money will come from. While there are many avenues available to help families find money for adoptions, one that is often over looked is that of fund raising.
Too often, families get stuck looking for grants, loans, employer reimbursement (all which should be pursued) but we forget that there are other avenues that with a little elbow grease, income can come in to help with expenses. Often this is... more
OK so the title is a bit harsh but you looked didn't you. Imagine though that the only photo you have of your baby is one that well...is not flattering. I have heard a consistent fear among those who are adopting that I thought I'd address and I look forward to reading your thoughts on this as well. Many people when waiting for their referral and photo become worried that when the look at the picture, the baby will not be this amazing beauty and that they will not feel connected to that child. Then this fear is compounded with guilt when they think how awful they must be for hoping for... more
Listen Up! Check that wristwatch. A HUGE shift in the modern way of thinking will occur on April 30th at midnight.
OK so maybe not so huge. Guatemala has decided to give Daylight Savings Time a try. If you have any dealings with Guatemala you will want to take note of this.
Usually when dealing with Guatemala, the time difference changes 2x a year as the US (OK so most of the US) goes on Daylight Savings Time. Here on the East Coast, we are 1 hour ahead of Guatemala time but in the Summer we move to 2 hours ahead. Not so anymore.
As of April 30th (at 12:00am) Guatemala will... more
